Obsessed

Do you remember the masterpiece ‘Fatal Attraction’ starring Michael Douglas and Glenn Close? He, a married man, had a short affair with long term consequences. His one weekend lover becomes obsessed with the idea of a love relationship, and turns into a dangerous stalker that stops at nothing to have the aforementioned man all for herself.

Now, the movie ‘Obsessed’, starring Beyonce Knowles, Idris Elba and Ali Lartar, has a somewhat similar plot. Yet, the married man here avoids having an affair with a woman who temporarily works at his office. Her obsession is based on a pure fantasy that grows in her mind as the movie progresses. The movie isn’t a blockbuster but a good watch. As we have already seen it in a different movie with Michael Douglas and Demi Moore called ‘Disclosure’ – men can fall victim to sexual harassment and stalking activities of psychotic creatures in skirts from time to time. ObsessedThumbs up for Idris Elba, he might not be the next Michael Douglas, but he played his role well – handsome, successful, cool under pressure, only focusing on things that he can change, attempting to avoid any kind of drama – the man many of us would like to marry. Beyonce, the stay home mom and wife, is beautiful as ever, but I would rather see her in musicals or comedies. She wasn’t very convincing here. For some obvious reasons I kept thinking she would start singing any minute. On the other hand, Ali Lartar did a great job playing the crazy girl. By the end of the movie I couldn’t help but hate her character.

If you plan on watching the movie with your man, be ready to hear a speech about what men have to go through when they are falsely accused of having an affair as well as how crazy some women can be.
